One of the best features of a stand mixer is that you can add other ingredients while the mixing action is occuring. However, it can be a little tricky trying to get those eggs, or that sugar into the bowl, without getting in the way of a moving beater, or without ingredients sloshing outside the bowl. The answer to these difficulties is a pouring shield. The chute lets you add ingredients from a safe distance while the "collar" prevents splashes from wet ingredients and "puff" from dry ingredients.

I recently purchased a pouring shield for my Kitchen Aid Pro. 500 mixer. It really helps keep spills in check when I add ingredients to my mier.

I attached the guard (did not fit well), added my ingredients, slightly bumped the guard and it fell into the mixer bowl while it was mixing. Save your money. I purchased this item in hopes to reduce the mess. Needless to say, it jammed my kitchen aid mixer and off-set the attachment and the bowl; I recommend using a big damp towel and cover the entire unit when you try to mix flour, powder sugar, etc. type of ingredients.

This certainly makes it much easier to make additions to your bowl. Everything just slides right in. No muss, no fuss.

This item arrived promptly and was exactly what I expected. I am very pleased and no longer have ingredients all over my counters when I use my mixer. It's easy to use and easy to clean.

It looks like Kitchenaid paid attention to the feedback & redesigned the shield to be a one piece unit. It has a gap in the back, to slide around the mixer. Fits perfectly & keeps flour in the bowl, where it belongs. Well worth the money.
